In 2026 the government began moving part of Dantokpa's traders to two new sites. The schedule announced on 27 March 2026 by the national markets agency (ANaGeM) planned the opening of the Tokpa Yôyô gallery, next to the Général Mathieu Kérékou stadium in Kouhounou (Cotonou), on 9 May 2026, and the start of the Tokpa Daho wholesale market in Akassato (Abomey-Calavi) on 16 May 2026.
According to Beninese press reports from August 2026, textiles, leather goods, cosmetics and jewellery are now at Tokpa Yôyô, and food wholesalers are sent to Tokpa Daho. Part of the trade still happens around the old Dantokpa site: the move is not finished.
In June 2026 ANaGeM said the 1,400 places at Tokpa Yôyô were not enough for about 4,000 traders and announced an extension. In early July 2026 the government decided to lower the monthly fees in these markets.
